Amy X Neuburg & Men formed in 1993, initially to perform music from Amy’s studio CD Songs 91 to 85.
Amy (vocals, electronic drums) had worked previously with guitarist and technical genius Herb Heinz, keyboardist Tim Root, and electronic percussionist Joel Davel, in the multimedia techno-theater ensemble MAP. Originally founded in the late ’80s by Herb Heinz and Dale MacDonald, MAP comprised an ever-evolving cast of talented characters contributing music, technology, dance, theater, and visual design. At the core were always social commentary, business suits, and the use of live technology, with the performers controlling all sonic and visual elements from the stage.
