Risa Jaroslow & Dancers’ “Talking Circle” May 12-22

In Talking Circle, six people ages 25 to 78 gather to make a decision that will impact each of their lives. What do they hope for as individuals at different stages of life and as a community? What risks will they take to achieve the freedoms they dream of?

The cast comprises dancers Anna Greenberg, Cauveri Suresh, Chelsea Reichert, and Erin Yen with guests Pamela Wu Kochiyama and Sharon Dalke of the Elders Project at Destiny Arts Center. Recorded music by Amy includes the contributions of cellist Jess Ivry and banjoist Erik Perason.

“Cone to My House” on exhibit through September

At last! After over 6 months of work, Amy’s Come to My House audio experience and sculpture is on view and up for auction at Fort Mason Center, Building 2, San Francisco. Dusplay and auction bidding run through September 30, 2021.

Reserve your viewing appointment HERE.
See and bid on all 100 Svane-commissioned artworks on line HERE.

Many thanks to the Svane Foundation and to Amy’s collaborators!
Amy X Neuburg: Words and music, recording and audio production, speaker artwork
Andrew Juris: Speaker art concept and layout, printing management, sculpture construction
Donald Swearingen: Audio playback unit design and construction

Come to My House consists of 8 songs played in surround sound through 8 powered audio speakers. Each speaker is itself a work of art, encased in printed vinyl with wood and metal appendages. NOT a soundscapey installation, these are actual Amy songs, dense and complex with lyrics addressing property lines, love and lust and loss, prickly plants, and other reflections from the Ark that is my home. The music ranges from choral counterpoint to electronic dance to a swell of chattering legal jargon.

Overheard....

“On the big stage of the Palace of Fine Arts Theater she was nothing less than brilliant. Her stage persona transcended the gadgetry of loop and sample… Neuburg has an artistry that is truly compelling.”
